book plot outline-
based on the german folklore of the alp. a demon who slips through keyholes and presses against sleeping people giving them nightmares. an alp can be caught by blocking up the keyhole once the alp has entered. in the morning the alp will have transformed into a beautiful lady. alps are usually sent or summoned by people and an alp can be tricked into revealing the identity of its sender.

more specific breakdown,
guy, 20s, starts to be visited nightly by an alp that takes the form of a cat, that enters his apartment through the keyhole. The guy haunted by horrific nightmares finds his daily life  (office, long bus commute) increasingly difficult. suffering from sleep deprivation these nightmarish creatures he sees every night start to plague him whilst he's awake. In a act of desperation (not believing in the supernatural himself) visits an old man who owns a creepy old book shop tucked away down a cobbled side street, discovers the alp can be tricked into revealing its summoner. we then follow the guy as he tries to discover who has bestowed the alp upon him and for what reason.
